Teachers Day: UGC has launched 5 research grant and fellowship schemes, know which candidates will benefit?

On the special occasion of Teacher's Day, the University Grants Commission launched 3 Research Grants and 2 Fellowship Schemes. The objective of these schemes is to promote research in higher education institutes.


Today, on the occasion of Teacher's Day, the University Grants Commission (UGC) made several important announcements. Under this, the commission launched 3 research grants and 2 fellowship schemes. UGC Chairman Prof. M Jagadish launched the five research grant/fellowship schemes at 3 pm on the official YouTube channel, Facebook page and Twitter handle. Explain that the purpose of these schemes is to promote research in higher education institutes.


Savitribai Jyotirao Phule Fellowship:

Its purpose is to promote the education of single girl child and encourage them to pursue research work. This allows for the award of a PhD degree. There is no fixed limit of slots in the fellowship programme. This fellowship will be for 5 years.


Fellowship for Retired Faculty Members:

UGC has started this scheme to provide opportunities to retired teachers actively engaged in research and teaching programmes. It has 100 seats available. Selected candidate will get Rs.50,000/- per month fellowship and Rs.50,000/- per year in contingency payment. The duration of this fellowship is 3 years.


Dr. Radhakrishnan UGC Post-Doctoral Fellowship:

The post-doctoral fellowship will be for 3 years for 900 applicants. In this fellowship, 30 percent seats will be reserved for women candidates. In this scheme, there will be a special Contingency Fund of Rs 50,000 per year with fellowship amount of Rs 50,000 per month.


Research Grant for Serving Faculty Members:


Its goal is to provide research opportunities to regular faculty members. With this initiative, 200 selected participants will get a grant of Rs 10 lakh as assistance. The duration of this grant is fixed at a maximum of 2 years.


Dr DS Kothari Research Grant:

This is a post-doctoral fellowship scheme for candidates in Science, Medical and Engineering streams. In this, 132 selected candidates will be offered financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh. Its duration will also be maximum 2 years.


E-Samadhan Portal also launched

Apart from launching 3 Research Grants and 2 Fellowship Schemes, the Commission also launched the e-Samadhan Portal. Through the portal, students, faculty and common people will also be able to tell their problems related to their higher education institutions to the commission. Along with this, universities, colleges and other higher education institutions have also been appealed to celebrate Teacher's festival from September 5 to 9.
