Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that 1.5 lakh people will be recruited in the next one year. He said that in the last 8 years, on an average, more than 43 thousand people have been given jobs in the Railways.

In a statement, the Railways said that 1,48,463 people would be recruited in the next one year. Whereas an average of 43,678 people have been recruited annually in the last eight years between 2014 and 2022.
According to the latest Annual Report of the Department of Expenditure on Pay and Allowances, as on March 1, 2020, the total number of Central Government Civil Employees (including Union Territories) stood at 31.91 lakh, while the total number of sanctioned posts The number is 40.78 lakhs. About 21.75 posts are vacant in this.
Most of the recruitment is done in these departments.
The report said that about 92 percent of the total workforce comes from the five major ministries - Railways, Defense (Civil), Home Ministry, Post and Revenue.
Excluding the employees of Union Territories, out of the total share of 31.33 lakh employees, the share of Railways is about 40.55 percent. It has been told that after the instructions of the Prime Minister, it was asked to prepare the details of vacancies in various departments and ministries, after which it has been decided to recruit 10 lakh people as a whole.
Railways said that from 2014-15 to 2021-22, its total recruitment was 3,49,422 people with an average of 43,678 people per year, while in 2022-23 it will recruit 1,48,463 people.
